Agentic trading is coming, and one thing stands in its way: trading data that cannot be verified. The Walrus Verifiable Trading Standard (WVTS), introduced today by Astros and Walrus, removes that barrier with a common, verifiable standard for market records.

The limitations of trading data today

Onchain markets generate detailed records of every fill, position, and liquidation, yet almost none of those records exist in a format that’s easy to interpret. Trading data is fragmented across exchanges, wallets, analytics platforms, and indexers, with no common structure for execution history, account state, or market context. 

For users, this means performance data cannot easily follow them across trading platforms, making it difficult to evaluate trading strategies. Protocols and developers use engineering resources to rebuild indexing pipelines, analytics systems, and custom integrations, instead of shipping new products. 

The largest opportunity cost is agentic trading. Without a common representation of trading activity, AI can read transactions but cannot reliably reason about trading behavior, market structure, execution quality, or historical decision making.

An open standard for verifiable trading data

WVTS defines a common way to publish trading activity to Walrus. Data published under the standard is:

  • Verifiable. Anyone can check any record independently, without going through the venue that produced it.
  • Open. Records are publicly readable, so developers, wallets, and analytics platforms can build on them without permission.
  • Readable by AI. The standard includes an MCP layer and AI-readable context objects, so agents can consume verified market data directly.

This creates new possibilities and efficiencies at the application layer. 

Developers can create an analytics platform, a wallet feature, or a trading tool once and support every venue that adopts the standard, instead of maintaining a custom integration for each exchange. Users get a persistent, portable record of their trading activity that holds up anywhere, from a disputed fill to a track record. AI agents finally get structured data they can reliably work with.

Astros Scan: the standard in production

Since April, Astros has published its full trade flow to Walrus: more than 22 million records, written asynchronously with no added latency. Astros Scan, launched this week, shows what that data makes possible: turning fragmented trading activity into a clear, usable view of the market. Instead of looking at isolated transactions, users and builders can see account activity, positions, execution history, liquidations, and broader trading behavior in one intelligence platform.Scan also introduces Trading DNA, an AI-generated profile of how a user trades, built from users’ own onchain history.

Why Walrus
